Manzi Metals welcome visit from Congressman Richard Nugent

On February 10th 2015, Manzi Metals, Inc. received a very welcome visitor Congressman Richard Nugent, along with Ms. Joy Hampton Dir. of Outreach and Mr. Jerry Karp from the Small Business Development Center at USF.

Manzi Metals’ corporate office is located in the Hernando County Industrial Park. During his visit, Congressman Nugent, was given a guided tour of the facility as Ms. Manzi explained Manzi Metals’ Quality System and Lean Manufacturing processes.

Congressman Nugent was given the opportunity of seeing these procedures in action as well as Manzi Metals’ machined parts and raw materials for the Aerospace industry. Barbara Manzi, President of Manzi Metals, and Congressman Nugent discussed the importance of small business development in Hernando County and in the State of Florida. Ms. Manzi also talked about the current plans to grow her business into the manufacturing sector as well as in the Construction /Shipyard projects going on in the Tampa area as a supplier of raw materials.

Barbara Manzi Invited to the White House!

We received exciting news on July 7th. Barbara Manzi, President and CEO of Manzi Metals was invited to the White House to meet President Obama on July 11th and be a part of a delegation of business executives including the President and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America, Mr. Jim Guyette and senior White House officials, including Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor Isabella Casillas Guzman, National Economic Council Director Jeff Zients and Small Business Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet to participate in industry discussions of small businesses and their partnerships with large prime contractors. The President greeted Barbara and later announced a new initiative called “SupplierPay“. This is an initiative to encourage large government contractors to pay their small business suppliers quickly. This program is based on the successful government, “Quick Pay Initiative” program that within the private sector will strengthen small businesses by increasing their working capital so they can grow their business and hire more workers.Barbara at the White House

New Beginnings Youth Shelter

Chris Gardner, Manager of Operations for Manzi Metals hosted a tour of our Brooksville, Florida facility and gave demonstrations of our equipment and saws to a dozen children from the “New Beginnings Youth Shelter” for homeless and troubled kids.  Everyone had a great time.  We got a kick out of one young girl who exclaimed, “I didn’t know that steel could be cut!”

New Horizontal Band Saw

Manzi Metals, Inc. is pleased to announce that we have just purchased and received a new ACRA SBS-420NC horizontal band saw.  The addition of this saw now gives Manzi Metals the in house capacity of cutting up to 17″ thick metal stock.  Adding this new saw also increases our cutting quantity capacity.  This saw has infinitely variable blade speed control, PLC controls for all hydraulic and electrical functions, hydraulic blade tension and motion detector for stalls and blade breakage.
